A Proper Winter Swell Slams the Maltese Islands

We love it when a good plan comes together. All of us had been stalking every single weather and wind app for a couple of weeks, and finally it was here. A famous promised swell, in a month that always delivers several breaks.
Multiple spots worked. No miracles, no once-in-a-lifetime nonsense. Just waves doing what they're supposed to do when the charts finally agree.
GT Doing Its Job Again
Għajn Tuffieħa was the main draw. After a long stretch of underwhelming swells, and a shitty sand bank slapped in the middle of the bay, it finally broke with some consistency. Sets had size, waves had shape, and timing mattered again. Bombs, proper bombs offered long rides and various opportunities came rolling through.
Clean lines, sensible decisions, a few solid makes, combined with multiple wicked wipe outs made for epic video clips and we can't wait to show you on IG. Justin, Luiz, Victor, Georgina all pushed themselves, as well as Luca and Adriano who rode solidly, amongst others.
Hadri paid for a heavy section with a board-to-face hit after committing to a strong turn into a mini barrel. Part of the deal. He walked away, asked us if he needed stitches, and carried on. Good job we have no sharks here!
Shoutout to Dario for sticking around to film instead of chasing every set, and Aiden as well , doing the background work that usually goes unnoticed. Having company while filming always makes it more fun! We've shared an epic clip by Aiden, check it out here.
When the Swell Turned
As expected, the direction shifted and attention moved east.
Marley's worked, though it never fully opened up. Enough waves to surf, not enough to get excited about.
PG, however, was clean. Not huge, just organised. Long enough walls to link turns and enjoy the wave without rushing it. Carlo, Sky, Victor, Andre, Luiz made the most of it and got a genuinely fun session out of it, which is really the whole point. Sky returned to the islands after surfing the Atlantic in Morocco, and immediately got going on some sweet lefts down at PG! Carlo, absolute beast mode as usual, looking menacing on every cut.
Surfine picking up our action again
The interwebs boomed with excitement as Surfline_Eur account shared our waves too, getting Luiz on a solid waves, filmed by João Pacheco. We love these moments and its a full testament to those who go hunting, never quitting and chasing every wave. Obrigado Surfline and Parabens Luiz!
Wave of Winter: This One Counts
This swell feeds directly into Wave of Winter, and that's where it matters.
These were real winter waves: cold water, proper power, and enough consequence to make you think before paddling.
Every wave from this run is eligible. GT, PG, east or west — if it was your best one of the season, that's the clip we want. No editing wars, no overthinking it. Just the wave that stands up on its own. Simply tag us in your upload and we'll share it, and compile it for the judging day in June! And btw, we're all the judges here so no stress!
