Heavy legs, no voice, a slight hangover and puffy cheeks – Monday morning done right! Most of us felt the extra sluggishness this morning and it’s 100% due to the newly formed surf band emerging from the amazing surf family in Malta!
Thanks guys, Mondays suck anyways! But what a Sunday night that was. Surfside hosted us for a music fundraising night, and Hadrien and Barbara’s voices are still in our heads. The night burst open with a brilliant performance by “The Radicals”, consisting of four string instruments, Hadrien’s vocals and Ryan Buhagiar’s slick drum beat.
Hadri led the way, with Liam Spiteri’s baseline keeping the band on track, the group’s anchor effortlessly stringing it all together, with Julian Paco and Myles Azzopardi rocking on two more guitars each. You know it’s fire when you’ve got four guitars and some of Malta’s best talent on stage together. They rehearsed for one month and put together a brilliant show, the band’s debut in aid of the Coast is Clear Foundation.
Perhaps the next best thing: this band is allegedly still looking for a name, so please go wild with your suggestions! Think barrels, sand, sea, surf… think of The Kooks (Damn that’s taken!) and more, let’s rock.
The band stayed with Barbara Lipovsek joining them on stage for the second section of the night. She serenaded the audience with her vocals, and what a treat it was! The crowd held hands, swayed, and sang along when we knew the lyrics. She’s a pro, and she let it show!

A duet with DJ Cicco followed, with some groovy dance moves from all, before Valerio’s hits took over, playing till closure.
It was an unforgettable gathering and hopefully the first of many more. We’ve got more of DJ Cicco coming up at Hideout on Saturday 26th October – PACIFICO, a Hawaiian night with some surprises!
Looking forward to seeing more of those moves fam!
