Triple Champ: Zach PC Crowned King of the Park Once Again

Three years. Three titles. One king still standing.

Zach PC tightened his grip on Malta’s skateboarding crown on Saturday night, defeating Ilya Melchin in the King of the Park final to claim the title for a third consecutive year.

The Msida Skatepark was packed long before the deciding tricks began.

Spectators crowded around the concrete, lining the ramps and fences as the island’s leading skaters went head-to-head under the lights. Every landed trick drew noise. Every miss brought a gasp.

Skaters faced each other in a game of SKATEBOARD, one rider sets a trick. The opponent must land it. Miss twice and collect a letter. Two judges control the action, ruling on whether tricks have been landed cleanly as the pressure climbs with every attempt. It is a format that rewards imagination, technical skill and nerve. Zach once again showed he has all three.

Ilya pushed him throughout the final, refusing to let the defending champion settle into an easy rhythm. The pair traded tricks as the crowd closed in around the action, with each letter carrying more weight than the last.

But when the title was there to be won, Zach delivered.

“I never thought I’d win any event, but I like this one because the final was against Ilya, who I grew up skating with, he made me push myself and skip some mental barriers i was having” “This one was up there.”

“My son was here; he gave me the energy to win, as I was cramping up in the beginning, so this was for him.”

The victory completes a genuine threepeat and confirms Zach as the dominant force in the competition’s recent history.

Winning one King of the Park title takes talent. Defending it takes composure. Winning it three years running means every opponent knows exactly who they need to beat, and still cannot knock you from the top.

Ilya reflected on the final with big props to his mate Zach.

“Zach is my f*cking best friend, I love him, he is amazing, we grew up together skating for 20 years, he won three in a row… big ups to him”

“This is what the sport is all about, no matter who wins we still love and support each other”

My Pop shove it 50-50 was my favourite trick; that big olly was fun, but Zach did it too, he is amazing!”

Yet the night felt bigger than one result.

Sponsored by Urban Jungle and Red Bull, and organised by the Malta Skateboarding Association, the finals showed the strength of Malta’s skate scene. Young riders watched from the edges. Established skaters backed their favourites. Families, friends and curious spectators filled the park who were also treated with a closing performance by Myles.

It was loud, competitive and unmistakably local.

For Malta’s skate community, King of the Park was another step forward.

For Zach PC, it was business as usual.

The crown stays on.
