Girl power shines through the night surf

Girls pose near the surfboards at sunset

Under the stars and a bright moon, Malta Surf and SUP Association’s night surf went ahead at Riviera Bay, to the sound of some lovely live classical music after a gorgeous sunset session.

The surf girl club, consisting of Mariah Buhagiar, Rebecca Muscat, and Kristina Cassar Dowling slapped on their lighting bracelets and rocked the sesh, creating their own playground with virtually no one else in the water. They were amazing, using the lighting well and catching wave after wave.

Earlier, the sunset session was one of the best swells we’ve had in a while, with a fun lineup, spearheaded by the brilliant Brazilians who carved through some huge sets. The whole bay was pumping all day, leaving us all with huge grins that lit up the night.

The night was brilliant and was a good opportunity to wave goodbye to Italian surfer Davide Guidotti, who leaves the island this week. Something tells us that he’ll be back, and sooner than later too!

After the surf, we did a little walk around the bay, picking up some litter and flattening the sand banks just in case mama turtle wants to lay her eggs. All in a good day’s work!

Good winds, amazing sets, a dreamy sunset and some pure pow from the girls made it a wonderful summer surf session, whether you chilled for a post-surf beer or got wet! Oh, and we even finally got a break from that nasty heatwave too! Now can we have the electricity back too?

See you at the next one

Yeeeew
